We know that tough economic conditions are putting real pressure on everybody. More than ever, every penny counts – and we want to protect your money. We’re on the same side as responsible consumers and businesses who deserve fairer finance.

We’re cracking down on consumer rip-offs and unfair practices in financial services. Along with tougher powers for dealing with rogue traders, we’re banning credit card cheques and bills of sale, and have launched consultation on credit and store cards to give customers better protection. You can find out all about these plans in the Consumer White Paper: A Better Deal for Consumers [External website].

People also need to know where to go to find out what action to take when things do go wrong so they can take control of their finances. We’re delivering real help now and making sure the advice you need is easy to find and use.

Know Your Consumer Rights is a drive to raise awareness about your key legal rights when you buy goods. All goods must fit the description given, be of satisfactory quality and be fit for purpose.

We want you to be able to feel confident that you are making informed choices and decisions – find out more at Know Your Consumer Rights [External website].

You can also speak to a Consumer Direct adviser by calling 08454 040506.
